WHAT IS NEW AND EXCITING AT THE 2010 WORKSHOP
•We are debut-ing our new 21st-century state-of-the-art Mike Curb MELE studio–a major asset for the HCC program that will become a longterm gathering place for the music community.
• The Participants Song Showcase, which was a big success last year, will be offering a prize for this year’s winner–all expenses paid to a national song showcase, with demo time in the MELE studio.
•Among this year’s invited professionals are Carrie Underwood’s multi-platinum producer, Mark Bright; Hall of Fame songwriter Bob DiPiero, who has 15 Number 1 singles; Katie Herzig, Grammy-nominated indie songwriter-artist; and Kyle Jacobs, writer of Garth Brooks’s “More Than a Memory,” the only country single ever to debut at Number 1 on the Billboard charts.
•This follows major recognition for songwriters who kick-started last year’s inaugural workshop: Craig Wiseman, who has been voted ASCAP country songwriter of the decade; Ruby Amanfu, whose CD “The Here And The Now” was named in Associated Press’s Top 10 albums for 2009; and Andy Dodd and Adam Watts, who wrote the big farewell single for the final episode of Hannah Montana.
•Session by session, panel by panel, the 2010 workshop offers enrichment across the board–how to maximize your creativity in the 21st-century music business, from the craft of songwriting to the best use of technology and new ways of building relationships and connections.
